Mason Jar Pies

Thanksgiving is all about the food. I always stuff myself with all kinds of delicious foods and hardly ever have room for dessert until hours later. Usually when we have guests over for dinner I'm left with a bunch of desserts or I'm making plates to take home of all the sweet treats because we always gorge ourselves with turkey and all the fixin's. So a great idea is just make the desserts ready to go so the guests can take them with them and can also be a Thanksgiving dinner favor. Try making individual pies in small mason jars for each of your guests. You could decorate the jars after you have baked the pies with scrapbook paper or ribbon and a tag with a greatful message that they came to dinner.

Macy's Peacock Themed Christmas Tree 2012

I am in love with this peacock themed Christmas Tree that I saw when we were shopping in Chicagoland recently. I took this picture that was on display at the Macy's department store at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg Illinois. I totally love this tree. I am planning on recreating something similar for my tree this year. I have been picking things up so I will post photos when I get the tree put together. Peacock must be a really popular theme this year because every store I have gone in has had some peacock item. LOVE IT!

2012 Wedding Trend: Snow White Inspired Weddings

This year a very popular trend in wedding dresses is a Snow White inspired dress. You will see many brides choosing a beautiful floor length gown with a fitted bodice. The bodice may have a variety of styles from a sleeveless sweetheart neckline to an off the shoulder sleeve. Of course, white will be the color of this breathtaking fairytale dress.

The make-up for the bridal party will be simple. Tanning will not be a major concern if the bride wants to look like Snow. Snow White is known for her beautiful white milky skin, as white as snow. But of course the most memorable of her looks are those beautiful full red lips. The bride's eye make-up should look clean and make her eyes look big and bright like Snow White. The bridal party should wear make-up that is natural and shouldn't wear red lipstick. Red lips should be reserved for the bride!

Apples play an important part in the fairytale. Red, green and yellow apples make beautiful decorations that will help set the romantic mood for your wedding reception. Apple themed party favors would be a great way to tie in the Snow White theme to your wedding. There are some really awesome chocolate dipped candied apples that look like bride and grooms that you can purchase thru the internet. There are also some beautiful bouquets that the bridal party can carry that incorporate apples into them. Instead of the flower girls throwing petals they could carry a beautiful basket of apples down the isle.

Who could forget the magic mirror Snow's wicked stepmother speaks to? A beautifully engraved silver hand mirror or compact would be a memorable gift for your bridal party. It is practical and they will remember you ever time they use it.

The décor for a Snow White wedding may tend to be more of a natural woodsy whimsical feel. A beautiful way to bring the outdoors in is to fill clear glass vases with branches and hang candles from the branches to make stunning centerpieces. Check out Marilyn's Keepsakes Blog for a beautiful photograph. A birch-wedding arch covered in flowers in your wedding colors would be stunning, check out the Nettleton Hollow blog for inspiration.

Having the bride arrive or the bride and groom leave in a horse drawn carriage would also give this wedding more of a fairytale feeling.

If you want to really delve yourself into the whole Snow White theme you could give each of your tables names of the characters or animals scene in the movie and decorate them accordingly. For example, the head table could be Snow White and Prince Charming's Table. You can display a seating chart that will tell each guest which characters table they will be sitting at.  is a Snow White inspired
